Acorus gramineus
Acorus gramineus is also called Dwarf rush or Japanese rush. Acorus gramineus is a bog plant from East Asia, oftengrown as a complete aquatic. It growsfrom a creeping rhizome which lies justbeneath the gravel surface. Stiff reed-like leaves are produced in a fan-shaped spray, sometimes up to 30cm(l tin) in height. The variegated form,which is striped with yellow, is the onemost commonly grown. There is adwarf form which grows only to about7cm (23/4in) in height, and which isvery useful in the foreground of thetank. All Acorus need plenty of light,and benefit from being planted in loamor peat. Propagate by separating sideshoots from the rhizome.
